QA1 Mod Shocks in Action: Road Trip & Autocross Performance
In our latest video, Speedtech Performance hit the road to put the QA1 Mod Shocks to the test on an epic road trip from St. George, Utah to Pleasanton, California. Our two Camaros, each equipped with QA1 Mod Shocks, covered nearly 1,600 miles round trip, and we’re excited to share how the Mod Shocks performed both on the open road and on the track.
Road Trip Review: Comfort Meets Control Over 1,600 Miles
For any car enthusiast, a road trip of this distance is the ultimate test of a suspension system’s comfort and durability. Over 1,600 miles of varied terrain, from wide-open highways to winding canyon roads, the QA1 Mod Shocks delivered an impressive balance of ride quality and performance. The street valve pack we used absorbed road imperfections effortlessly, providing a smooth, comfortable ride that made long stretches feel much shorter.
Despite the comfort, the Mod Shocks never sacrificed handling. Throughout the trip, both Camaros felt planted, stable, and responsive through every curve and corner, making the long journey both fun and comfortable.
Modular Valve Pack: Street to Track
One of the standout features of the QA1 Mod Shocks is the modular valve pack system, which allows drivers to swap between different valves tailored for street driving or racing. On the road trip, we opted for the street valve pack for a more forgiving ride. Once we arrived in Pleasanton and prepared for autocross at the GoodGuys event, we easily switched to the racing valve pack. This provided the firmer damping needed for high-performance cornering and faster lap times on the track.
Autocross Dominance:
Jeremy’s ’67 Camaro Jeremy’s 1967 Camaro took to the autocross course with the racing valve pack, and it performed flawlessly. The QA1 Mod Shocks provided the precision and control needed to handle tight slaloms and high-speed cornering, allowing Jeremy to post competitive times and push his car to its limits. The transition from a smooth road trip to an aggressive track performance highlighted the true versatility of the Mod Shocks.
Final Thoughts
After nearly 1,600 miles on the road and a successful day at the autocross, the QA1 Mod Shocks have proven their worth. Whether cruising long distances or pushing performance at the track, the ability to switch between street and racing valve packs gives these shocks unmatched versatility. Check out our video to see how they handled everything from the open roads of Utah to the demanding autocross course in Pleasanton.
