A Showstopper Firebird at Goodguys Pleasanton
When it comes to Pro Touring muscle cars, this ’69 Pontiac Firebird truly stands out. At the Goodguys show in Pleasanton, California, we couldn’t help but notice this sleek, Speedtech-equipped beauty, so we had to track down the owner to hear the story behind the build.

Unique Custom Touches
Starting at the front, the Firebird showcases Zinger Customs’ front end modifications, a reworked headlight bucket, and fog lights sourced from a Honda. The beak of the car is recessed for a more flush, modern look, maintaining the classic lines with a refreshed attitude. A honeycomb grill adds to the aggressive stance of the car.
Under the hood, the Firebird boasts a 427ci Mast Motorsports iron block, paired with a Magnuson 2300 supercharger, pushing around 800 horsepower. That’s plenty to keep things exciting on the street and track.
Pro Touring at its Best
What sets this Firebird apart is its Speedtech Performance components, including the Pro Touring front subframe and torque arm rear suspension. These upgrades not only give the car incredible handling but also contribute to its aggressive stance. The car is equipped with down bars for added stability, ensuring it stays stiff and steady during high-speed driving.

The flush-mounted glass, smooth body lines, and removal of the drip rails further the car’s sleek aesthetic. Custom wheels from LightSpeed in LA, finished in gunmetal gray with a polished lip, complete the exterior look. Corvette C6 brakes from Core 3 give it the stopping power it needs.
A Personal Touch
This Firebird isn’t just about high-performance parts—it’s deeply personal for the owner. The “What It Do” phrase featured on his license plate and valve covers comes from his childhood, representing the muscle car culture he grew up in. While his original dream car was a ’69 Camaro, he chose the Firebird to stand out from the crowd, and he’s never looked back.
The BMW M-series San Marino Blue paint, a color the owner carefully selected after seeing a Gap Racing Camaro, adds to the car’s unique personality. Satin carbon fiber accents and sequential LED tail lights bring a modern touch to the classic body.

Modern Meets Vintage
Inside, the Firebird blends modern comforts with vintage styling. Sparco seats with custom inserts mimic the Firebird’s iconic wing shape, and a custom center console from a 2014 Camaro ZL1 integrates smoothly into the dash. The Holly digital dash, electric windows, and Vintage Air A/C keep things comfortable, but there’s no mistaking this is a classic muscle car.
Built for the Love of It
The owner built this Firebird himself, learning to weld and handle every aspect of the mechanical work along the way. “There’s nothing like the feeling of hearing the engine fire up for the first time,” he says, recalling the moment the 427 roared to life.

This build is not just about creating a high-powered machine, but about a passion for cars passed down through generations. With his kids now riding along in the back, the owner hopes to inspire the next generation of car enthusiasts.
