Team Speedtech Triumphs at the 2024 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in Las Vegas

The Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car Invitational, held annually at the renowned SEMA Show and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, saw Team Speedtech dominate this year’s competition with exceptional performances across multiple classes, showcasing the team’s dedication to skilled driving and high-performance automotive engineering.

Chris Smith With Smitty Custom Automotive

Chris Smith, of Smitty’s Custom Auto, displayed his seasoned experience and deep knowledge of Pro Touring by securing the GTV (vintage) class title. His Speedtech-equipped 1970 Camaro demonstrated impressive speed, control, and resilience, securing him the championship. Smitty’s back-to-back Invitational victories in the GTV class have solidified his reputation as a top-tier driver. This year, he not only clinched the GTV class title but also topped the season leaderboard, taking home both the GTV season points champion and the overall season champion titles—a true testament to his skill as a car builder and performance driver; additionally showing Speedtech Performance’s high-performance capabilities.

Hondo Miller with Laid-Back USA

Hondo Miller, of Laid-Back USA, took on a tough field in the GTT (truck) class with his 1969 Blazer, built by Laid-Back and P2 Fabrication. Despite intense competition, Miller fought his way to his first GTT class victory, marking a crowning achievement in a remarkable season for him. His success reflects his years of dedication to continuing to improve his driving skills, tuning his truck as well as Speedtech’s commitment to providing cutting-edge performance parts that empower drivers to reach new heights. Hondo’s Blazer stands out in a class of much lighter weight vehicles sitting at nearly 5,000 pounds as it is equipped with a full sound system and rear bench seat.
