RedZed: The First Evolution
Tear Down & Transformation
Having worn many different coats before arriving at the Speedtech shop, this 1969 Camaro underwent its greatest and final major transformation yet. The car initially came in with a mild Pro Touring makeover, but that was quickly tossed in favor of a far more aggressive and capable direction.
A game plan was set and tear down began, stripping the Camaro of:
Engine and automatic transmission
Mostly stock suspension
Interior and exterior trim
Standard Camaro front clip
The goal was clear: build a show-quality cruiser that could also lay down serious performance when needed.

Track Time Subframe & Torque Arm Conversion
To achieve the desired dual personality, the build sheet included a Speedtech Track Time front subframe paired with the now-famous Speedtech Torque Arm rear suspension and a minitub conversion.
Track Time front subframe highlights:
High-clearance tubular control arms
AFX tall spindles with C5 hubs
Coilover shocks
Power rack and pinion steering
Lightweight tubular sway bar
Baer 14″ Pro Plus 6-piston brakes
Out back, the coilover-sprung Torque Arm system secured a narrowed 12-bolt rear axle with Strange components, 31-spline axles, and matching Baer 6-piston calipers with 14″ rotors.

Powerplant: Supercharged & Street-Proven
For motivation, the existing stump-pulling 600+ horsepower supercharged 427 big block and max-built 700R4 remained in place.
Under-hood visual upgrades included:
Fabricated valve covers matched to the subframe
Custom Speedtech signature billet inserts
Brushed-finish blower case
Billet pulleys and master cylinder
Aluminum radiator
Matching polished stainless headers
3″ polished stainless dual exhaust
MagnaFlow mufflers
The result was a clean, purposeful engine bay with just the right amount of flash.

Bodywork, Details & Paint
Extensive attention went into body prep to ensure the soon-to-be vibrant paint laid down flawlessly.
Subtle but impactful mods included:
Deleted quarter panel louvers
Shaved drip rails
Flush-mount front & rear glass
Shaved body lines and emblems
Custom mirrors
Full RS front clip
To seal the “RedZed” identity, the car was coated in an ultra-bright Mercedes Red with a single black stripe across the hood and deck lid. Billet hood and trunk hinges, handles, lights, and vents added a refined finishing touch.

Interior Refinement
The interior received a full rework featuring:
Leather and suede custom door panels
Fiberglass suede headliner
Leather/suede-wrapped seats
Autometer gauges
Billet steering wheel & handles
Pioneer and Alpine electronics handled the audio duties.

Wheels, Tires & The Signature Stance
As striking as the build was overall, the defining feature was the stance and rolling stock.
Custom Speedtech-designed 3-piece wheels featured:
Polished outer rims
Black powder-coated inner rims
Brushed centers
Custom Speedtech billet center caps
Wheel & tire sizing:
Front: 19×9″ with 275/30/19
Rear: 20×12″ with 345/25/20
Combined with the bodywork and colors, the stance delivered the kind of presence that stops crowds at shows and on the street.
