CNC Operator

Summary: Performs machine set-ups, operates, and maintains CNC machines while ensuring quality parts are being manufactured to print specifications.  Position would be responsible for assisting with or leading set-up of machines for machine operators.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regular and consistent attendance
  • Ability to follow all safety protocols
  • Perform timely set-ups.
  • Ability to generate CNC programs and document set-up via set-up sheet.
  • Conducts first piece and in-process inspections.
  • Maintains overall quality of machined parts.
  • Prepares each job in accordance with job order (build order), verbal, or written instructions
  • Inserts cutting tools or tool holders and position tools on turret
  • Verifies accuracy of machined work pieces against blueprints or engineering drawings by measuring cuts with inspection tooling and gages
  • Adjust program and tooling as needed to achieve correct specification
  • Adds coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricates machine parts and ways
  • Operation of saw to prep material for machining or fabrication
  • Operation of CNC tube bending equipment.
  • Cleans around work areas.
  • Removes burrs or excess metal from machined parts
  • Fills out production paperwork and inspection procedures
  • Maintains production completion logs
  • Reports any discrepancies to immediate supervisor
  • Performs regular daily maintenance on equipment, tools, and gages and keeps work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
  • Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education & Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certificate or degree in Machining Technology
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of machine controls, axis of travel, machine configuration and machining capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate manual and CNC lathe and milling machines and maintain the overall quality of machined parts.
  • Must understand the importance of attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Ability to read a micrometer and caliper
  • A willingness to work in a team atmosphere and displays a positive attitude.
