This gorgeous GTO was near full restoration status when Tony brought it to us for a serious twist on things. Timing was perfect as we were nearing the prototype completion of our new A-Body ExtReme full chassis for the ’68-72 year A-Body cars.
Tony brought along the engine when he dropped the car, planning to power this mean ‘ol Goat with a supercharged LS3 stroker engine and 4L80 transmission that ran 10’s in the 1/4 mile in his 5th gen Camaro. With that sort of power, Tony wanted a suspension and some serious tires on the ground to not only help it accelerate well but also roast some corners while he’s at it. After dropping the car off to us plans for a complete frame off re-do got under way with some body mods, including mini-tubs, trans tunnel reconstruction and smooth firewall. After the entire car was rep[ainted in that beautiful silver metallic hue the car was united with our ExtReme chassis and suspension, finished off with big Baer Brakes and Forgeline wheels sporting 315-18 BFG Rival tires up front and 335-18 tires out back. With the exterior, engine bay and all mechanicals taken care of the build was wrapped up with a full custom interior that raised the bar in comfort and function.
Now as pretty as this car is, it’s easily a highlight of the car shows it has attended, but what makes us smile is that Tony drives it hard and uses it for what it was intended for.
