Although it needed a lot of lovin’, Lasse bought this car with the intention of making a street fighter style Pro-Touring car out of it and it was the perfect start. It arrived at the shop with a rough running small block backed by a 700R4 nesteled in a mess of old grease, wiring and hoses all over the engine compartment. That didn’t last long as a complete tear down began and everything was stripped clean.
Upon returning from media blasting it was evident that some rust repair needed to be addressed throughout the body. A new floor, trunk pan, and rear 1/4 panels were grafted in along with some minor patch work around the car. After the body was back in shape, attention turned to the frame and suspension. The frame received several upgrades including our A body front and rear Coilover Conversion kit, our new A body Frame Box and Bracing kit, and satin black powdercoating. Our complete Track Time suspension package covers the front and rear suspension, while Wilwood brakes handle the stopping duties. Finishing up the mean street look are powder coated Torque Thrust II wheels wrapped in 245-40-17s up front and 285-40-17s out back. With all the new suspension in place the car got a complete rewire to replace the original worked and reworked harness.
For power, Lasse liked the modern touch and replaced the traditional small block with an LS3 backed by a 4L65E transmission. Topping things off is a new Vintage Air a/c installation. The 525 horsepower fuel injected engine has a nice rumble at idle, and through the Speedtech stainless full length headers, 3″ stainless exhaust, and Magnaflow mufflers it has a real mean tone when he lays into the throttle.
With the car mechanically complete, it will head to a family member of Lasse’s for final body work, black re-paint, and interior upgrades. When completed this will be one mean cruiser!
